Phoenix Rising
Lewes, E. Sussex
North Street in Lewes is an industrial estate on a flood plain built around a Victorian ironworks. As students, we volunteered to draw designs for a community-led masterplan, pitched in opposition to a house builder’s proposal to clear the site and start again. Our plan matched the number of new homes and included a renovated ironworks to house creative and light industry in the centre of town. We moved to Lewes, built a studio to work from and presented our drawings to the National Park and the 750 people who visited our travelling exhibition.
